Carbon Fibre Instrument Cluster Surround with Integrated Shift Lights for 12C

Since 1981 when McLaren first pioneered the use of Carbon Fibre in our racing cars and later in production road cars, we have strived to understand its properties and benefits to deliver performance. This unrivalled experience has given us the capability today to design exquisitely engineered components from exotic and complex materials.
The Carbon Fibre Instrument Cluster Surround is a single piece of Carbon Fibre, designed to further enhance the aesthetic appearance of the 12C’s interior. To fully compliment the shape and form, the lacquered carbon also plays superbly with light, adding depth and giving an extra dimension to the interior finish.

From as early as the 1980’s racing drivers have become accustomed to the use of shift light indicators as one of their key racing instruments. An integral aid, allowing the driver to judge the exact point that a gear change should be carried out without having to rely solely on the tachometer, the driver can keep their focus on the track at all times.
The Carbon Fibre Instrument Cluster Surround with Integrated Shift Lights provides an additional, dramatic, driver engagement as the McLaren M838T engine deploys its power through our seven-speed Seamless-Shift Gearbox. As the RPM builds through the higher rev range the LED indicators begin illuminating Green, going on through Yellow, Red and finally to Blue at the optimum shift point. The driver will instinctively find themselves utilising the indicators to deliver an even more sensational driving experience.

Incorporated into the simple and efficient design of the instrument cluster surround, the shift lights are positioned in the driver’s peripheral line of sight. Precision engineered and beautifully crafted, the Integrated Shift Lights, allow the driver to focus on the road ahead, be that on a flowing mountain pass or on the most demanding of race tracks.

Operational in Sport and Track Modes, with Manual mode selected, this latest offering from McLaren Special Operations provides further race inspired emotion to the 12C’s exhilarating performance.

As McLaren Special Operations continues to develop new products that further enhance the design and performance of McLaren cars, Titanium is the natural choice of material we have utilised in suitable areas. Not only does Titanium have the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal, it also has one of the highest levels of corrosion and fatigue resistance. Since the early 1980’s McLaren have exploited this extraordinary metal in various designs of Formula One components, where it has extensively complimented our longstanding expertise of carbon fibre, in our unrelenting focus on weight reduction and maximising performance.

MSO is proud to now be able to offer a bespoke set of Titanium wheel bolts for the 12C that result in a weight saving of over 40% of the standard items, significantly decreasing the un-sprung rotational mass of the wheel. The titanium wheel bolts are delivered in a boxed set of 20pcs and includes a Torx adapter.

McLaren Special Operations, along with the owners of our cars, regularly demonstrate an obsession over the details, not only in terms of engineering excellence but also in terms of aesthetic appearance. The extensive use of lightweight exotic materials, combined with a passion for beautifully designed technical forms, have allowed us to continue to express the precision engineering skills that our design teams are famous for.
MSO are pleased to now be able to offer Titanium Oil & Water Caps for the 12C that are designed to further enhance the appearance of the engine bay area. For the 12C Coupe, both the Oil & Water Caps are highly visible through the glass rear cover and are available to purchase as a set. The 12C Spider, with a smaller engine cover, displays the Water Cap only and this is available to purchase as a single item.
